About Teochew.net

Teochew.net is a home for the stories of the Teochew (潮州 / Chaoshan / 潮汕) people — in the homeland and across the global diaspora.

The Teochew come from a small corner of eastern Guangdong: the three cities of Chaozhou, Shantou (Swatow) and Jieyang, pressed between mountains and the sea. For centuries that geography sent people outward, and today there are roughly as many Teochew abroad as at home — in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, France, the United States, Canada, Australia and far beyond.

We believe that whole, scattered world deserves a single, welcoming place to tell its story.

Our principles

Culturally inclusive. There is no single “correct” Teochew. We welcome every community — homeland and diaspora, every dialect and spelling, every generation. Stories from Bangkok and Paris matter as much as stories from Shantou.
